Introduction
The following pages within the site seeks to narrate the story of Robert and Gertrude’s families from their origins in Lincolnshire and Norfolk. While I have done work going back through the generations I feel that a more detailed approach to the story is required to give what I think is a very special family its due regard. Our family are a true part of the evolution of the nation from our sailor ancestors in Wells and Brancaster , the farmers of Gunthorpe and Thursford, the farm labourers of Burnham to the house servants of Eaton Square in the late 19th century and those who served and died in the Great war.
Taking my findings so far and trying, wherever possible ,to use original records I have decided to take a family by family approach. Robert and Gertrude are to be shown on Robert and Gertrude’s page which I will complete last. I have initially concentrated the story on Norfolk due to its excellent parish records and started with those families that I feel less confident about. The first family I have therefore decided to document is the Starlings.
